The Psalms: Timeless texts for Prayer, Praise & Proclamation

A workshop celebrating and interpreting the major themes of the Psalms in word and song presented by Reverend Dr. Gerald Hobbs, Professor of Church History and Music at the Vancouver School of Theology

The Psalms (or songs) have three major themes:

  • Orientation – God has created us and the world is a wonderfulgift to us
  • Disorientation – life is often a struggle with trials and disappointments
  • New Orientation – we discover, through conflict and troubles, that God is our hope and salvation and the world is good.

In three sessions, the above themes will be explored with relevance to our lives today and with some of the wonderful music settings. The workshop is for all with an interest in the words and music of the Psalms.

A registration fee of $15 covers lunch and workshop materials. Please register in advance if possible by phoning the church office (weekday mornings) by calling (705) 675-2171 or by sending a note to info@stpetersunited.ca.

A poster of this event is available, entitled psalms workshop 2006 PDF in a PDF format.
