After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL-E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that WALL-E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet’s future . . .
The blockbuster animated movie Wall-E might at first glance seem like a strange choice for a church based educational event. But as the Rev. Dawn Vaneyk led a group of about 35 participants made up of pre-schoolers, senior citizens and everything in between, through a series of activities and discussion questions, it quickly became obvious that important theological and spiritual issues are embedded in the movie which challenges us to consider how we can “live with respect in creation” and in right relations with one another.
